Boyd Devore

Boyd Devore, 82, of Metropolis, died Saturday, March 11, 2017 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 18 at Weaver Creek Baptist Church, formerly Upper Salem Baptist Church, located at 2997 North Ave. in Metropolis, with Pastor Jake Ervin officiating.

A dinner will follow the service, also at the church, which is also open to all family and friends.

One of 15 children born in New Matamoras, Ohio, Mr. Devore resided in Metropolis for 12 years.  He retired from Crucible Steel Mill in Midland, Pennsylvania and served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Edna Devore of Metropolis; four sons, David Devore and wife Diane and Kenneth Devore and wife Linda, all of Ohio, Brian Devore of Rogers, Ohio and Daniel Devore and companion Bruce Beasley of Marion; two daughters, Brenda Freeman of Chester, West Virginia and Hope Bowdler and husband Jeff of Hamletsburg; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Dawn Devore; and his parents, Brady and Ora Mae Devore.
