Out of the ordinary spring rainfall totals have caused many flash floods and muddy fields over the past two weeks. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Paducah forecasts the Ohio River to crest on Saturday afternoon at 43 feet at the Brookport Lock and Dam 52.
Flood stage for Brookport is 37 feet with moderate flood stage at 51 feet. Major flood stage is 57 feet which occurred during the flooding in the spring of 2011.
