Thursday, April 06, 2017 - Updated: 10:55 AMWith the weather leaving much to be desired, Massac County’s softball team managed to get in a pair of games this past week and came out winners both times.
In a 12-4 win over Murphysboro, the girls jumped on top 3-0 in the first inning only to have the Lady ‘Devils tie things up in the top of the fourth at 3-3.
But from there it was all Massac County as the girls put up three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame, piled on four more in the fifth and added a pair just for good measure in the bottom of the sixth.
Ellie Weber threw the complete game and busted a two run bomb to center field to help her own cause.
Taylor Jenkins, Addie Waldrop and Payton Pierce all had multi-hit games for Massac with Weber, Paige Box, Camdyn Boyd and Pierce all adding at least one RBI in the win.
The ladies went to Harrisburg Tuesday night and came home 9-8 winners. Some late inning long ball heroics led to the one run win as Payton Pierce and Taylor Jenkins each cracked homers to lead the ladies.
Weber started in the circle for Massac but Mahailee Parker was the recipient of the homer help as she got the win. Jenkins went 3 for 5 in her big night with 3 RBI, Pierce went 3 for 4 with a homer and two RBI and Bailey Duckworth went 2 for 3 with an RBI.
